Q. What is First Tee - Lake Erie? A. We're an organization that teaches children valuable Life Skills and Healthy Habits through the game of golf.  We build experiences that help to build character. Q. Is First Tee - Lake Erie golf instruction? A. No.  The Life Skills and Healthy Habits we teach are the primary goal and golf is secondary.   Q.  What makes this different from normal golf instruction? A.  Our #1 priority is the Life Skills Education that we teach.  Our coaches are trained to attach a Life Sill/Core Value, Healthy Habit, Golf Skill, and a bridge to life in each class.  These are done so in a way that is fun and seamless to the children involved.   Q.  How do you make the lessons seamless?  What kinds of questions do you ask? A.   For example, if the Core Value is respect, all the activities from the warm-up to the wrap up will have aspects of respect and coaches ask open-ended questions to get the children thinking about this.  Questions might include: How did you show respect in that activity?  How do you show respect at home? School? With Friends?  What are some other ways that you can show respect in this activity? If you see someone not showing respect, what would you do?  What other ways do you show respect in golf? Q.  What is the cost? A.  Costs vary depends on the program and the program location.  We also offer scholarships for our program.  If you are interested in a scholarship, please contact Michael Prothe. Q.  How do I register for classes? A.  There is a “Register” button in the top right-hand corner of the website.  Click on that and it will take you to the website that we use for registration.  Q.  What program level do I sign my child up for? A.  If this is your child’s first time in our program, they are a part of the PLAYer level.  In order to move to the other levels (Par, Birdie, Eagle, Ace), they have to go through a certification process.  For more information on the different levels, click here.   Q.  How does my child move through the program? A.  On average it takes a child 1-2 years to move through the first few levels.  There is a specific certification process that he or she will do at the end of the season if they're eligible to move up.  For more information on this, click here.
